I think it would be cool to have a Free Community Screening  of the Join or Die documentary that inspired this project. While anyone with access to Netflix can view it at their convenience, I think watching documentaries as a community event also has great value, and is an experience to remember.

I imagine two types of free screenings, one is for a larger audience and the other a smaller group. When I think of the larger event, I think of the State Theatre in Modesto. I specifically think of the “Debate at The State.” It took place at the State Theatre in Modesto and featured a live, free debate between two congressional candidates, Republican Rep. John Duarte and Democrat Adam Gray. They gave out free popcorn and water, and had some free promotional items available. It was almost a packed house, and I remember thinking this is awesome, much respect to those that made it possible, and I'm happy to be here.

With that said, the State Theatre in Modesto has shown Join or Die already to a paying audience. I think it would be great to have a free event that a hundred plus people attend similar to the Debate at the State, free popcorn and water, and some SCC swag. Much like the Club Fair idea this could be somewhat sponsored by local Legacy Clubs. While the State Theatre would have extra sales on beer, wine, and other food outside of the popcorn freebie, they would still need to cover the screening rights.

For screening to a smaller group, which is great for anyone who doesn't like to be in small crowds, but also has value in that a discussion can occur after viewing the film. This is a very practical approach that could be done in multiple locations in Modesto using a projector, laptop, and some decent speakers.
